Last week, Don Julio celebrated World Tequila Day with a two-stage celebration, first inside the Uganda Breweries Limited and then at Silo 15 in Buglobee for tequila lovers and the people of Kampala.

The celebrations kicked off on Wednesday, July 24, World Tequila Day, at UBL’s headquarters in Luzira, followed by a “Daycation” brunch prepared by Don Julio at Silo 15, Bugloby’s premier bar and restaurant.

UBL’s World Tequila Day celebrations were focused on the Tequila Stewards employees. National Communications Manager Roy Tumwizere provided an immersion orientation for the employees to help them learn about the different Tequila brands under UBL.

The immersive experience is themed around a Mexican party, complete with sombreros and rumba music in the background.

The second phase of the celebrations extends to Silo 15 on Sunday, July 28, for the first-ever Don Julio-sponsored “Daycation.” Taking over Buglobbie’s newest trendy venue with Don Julio Tequila decor, the event offers a perfect blend of gourmet food and premium tequila cocktails.

The “Daycation” brunch series will be held on the last Sunday of each month, ensuring that each event will bring a unique experience to guests.

World Tequila Day

The dual celebration not only honours Tequila’s heritage but also highlights its growing popularity in the Ugandan market.

UBL Innovation Manager Simon Lapyem said UBL must respect and celebrate World Tequila Day because of its significance to businesses and tequila consumers in Uganda.

“This is the first time we are celebrating Tequila Day in full force, to thank our consumers for their enthusiastic support of our tequila brand, Don Julio. We chose to celebrate both at home and abroad because audiences are the two most important factors in Don Julio’s success in Uganda. We are excited to see more Ugandans embracing the tequila culture and eager to adopt new and exciting ways to enjoy tequila,” he said.

Silo 15 CEO Ryan Aine praised Don Julio’s partnership with the gathering place, stressing that the Don Julio Tequila brand syncs perfectly with the “high-end” service that Silo 15 is committed to providing.

“Partnering with Don Julio for the ‘Daycation’ brunch collection is a natural progression to elevate the experience for our customers. It’s all about creating memorable moments and by partnering with Don Julio, we’ve added a touch of sophistication and authenticity,” he said.

Sunday’s event was a feast of entertainment and unforgettable food. Guests enjoyed taking photos at Don Julio’s photo booth to capture the highlights of the day. Tequila cocktails were a big hit, with a variety of innovative concoctions showcasing Don Julio’s versatility.

The day’s musical event had a Mexican theme, with energetic performances by Selector Jay and a host of other well-known DJs.
