NOC Vice President Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi led the UAE delegation to the 36th Gulf Olympic Committee Summit hosted by the State of Qatar in the capital Doha. The delegation included NOC Secretary General Fares Mohammed Al Mutawa and NOC Board members Amal Bushrah, Abdulaziz Salman, Ibrahim Zaabi and Executive Director of the Committee Mohammed bin Darwish.
The participants adopted the recommendations of the Gulf NOC General Secretariat, the Working Group on Conditions Study of the Subcommittee and Working Group of the Council of Presidents of the NOCs, and the International Cooperation Axis.
The 36th meeting adopted the Rules of the Gulf Cooperation Council National Sports Competitions, entitled “Gulf Cooperation Council National Sports Competition Rules”, and approved the “Gulf Cooperation Council National Sports Competition Rules”, which include all four disciplines for the implementation of Gulf sports events approved by the “92” Office Meeting, as well as any courses that may be organized in the future.
The participants reviewed the memorandum of the General Secretariat on the final report of the first Gulf Youth Games- UAE 2024, in which the Planning, Coordination and Follow-up Committee was tasked with studying the challenges and recommendations raised in the report of the Organizing Committee of the meeting and taking necessary measures in this regard.
The meeting decided to cancel the first Gulf Futsal and Martial Arts Games, originally scheduled to be held in Saudi Arabia in 2024, citing overcrowding in regional and international sports competitions.
