UAE, Kenya establish partnership in government work, governance and development

The governments of the UAE and the Republic of Kenya launched a new partnership to exchange knowledge and experience in the field of governance and government work development within the framework of a memorandum of understanding signed in the presence of Sheikh Shahbout bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State, at the initiative of the UAE Government Knowledge Exchange Programme, and during the work of the fourth session of the Joint Committee between the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Kenya.

The MoU was signed by the Minister of State and Secretary General of the Council of Ministers, Mariam bint Ahmed Al Hammadi, and the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Republic of Kenya, Musalia Mudavadi.

The partnership aims to enhance joint efforts and collaboration in institutional capacity building, governance processes in the area of ​​development of government work, institutional capacity and skills building and other areas of mutual interest.

Maryam Al Hammadi stressed that the UAE government is keen to translate the directives of its wise leadership by expanding the horizons of constructive cooperation and active partnership with countries around the world, which contributes to strengthening the environment of international cooperation aimed at developing and modernizing the work of the government, and participating in the global march for a better future.

Musalia Al-Mudavadi highlighted the outstanding relations between the Republic of Kenya and the United Arab Emirates, noting that the UAE provides more than 30,000 jobs for Kenyan nationals, stressing Kenya’s commitment to strengthening relations between the two friendly countries. His visit to the UAE, as well as the signing of agreements and the launch of … new partnerships, confirms the strength of the growing relations between the two countries, which will increase efforts to move relations forward, contributing to the creation of opportunities and the provision of capabilities for the benefit of both peoples. He noted the strong relations between Kenya and the UAE since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1982, and praised the UAE’s role in supporting Kenya’s development initiatives and development, expressing confidence that the continued development of Kenya and the UAE development cooperation will help enhance and expand future opportunities.

Abdullah Nasser Al-Lootah, Assistant Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Competitiveness and Knowledge Exchange, affirmed that the new partnership between the governments of the UAE and the Republic of Kenya in the field of government modernisation reflects the positive impact of government initiatives. He said that this partnership will cover eight important areas that are most closely related to the future visions of the governments of the two countries. Through it, the two countries will transfer expertise and exchange successful experiences to develop government work and strengthen government preparedness for future changes and requirements, in addition to focusing on building government capacity and providing it with the necessary skills and tools to support the accelerated implementation of future plans and visions.

The MoU covers various areas of cooperation between the governments of the UAE and the Republic of Kenya, including: Developing government services to reach all segments of customers through proactive initiatives and quality services, and building the capacity of employees responsible for government services Areas of cooperation also cover the national agenda to enable… Both parties aim to enrich performance management experience, review and refine national development plans to achieve future visions, ensure full compatibility between government agencies, focus on government excellence by spreading a culture of quality and excellence in government agencies, developing government excellence models, and building capacity to develop government change makers who can participate in stimulating innovation and achieving success.

Partnership areas include cooperation in building government competitiveness in the areas of general competitiveness, entrepreneurship, prosperity, innovation and technology, exchanging best practices in the field of global competitiveness, and developing human resources through the application of new concepts, adopting modern international standards, planning skills, improving the e-government experience of customers, and restructuring internal operating systems, in addition to areas of common interest, such as gender balance, renewable energy, youth and promoting entrepreneurship and sustainable economic development.

It is noteworthy that the fourth meeting of the Joint Committee between the UAE and the Republic of Kenya was held in Abu Dhabi, chaired by Sheikh Shahbout bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State, and Mousalia Mudavadi, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs. The meeting was attended by senior officials from the Kenyan Ministry of Expatriate Affairs, and discussed strengthening cooperation in the fields of aviation, renewable energy, education, youth, agriculture, transport and ports, manpower, and defense.
