Two French army Rafale fighter jets collided in the east of the country at noon on Wednesday and a search is underway for the two pilots, local and military authorities announced.
A spokesman for the French air force in Paris said two Rafale aircraft from Saint-Dizier air base in the east of the country collided.
The pilot of one plane ejected before the crash and is in good condition, but the instructor and trainee pilot on the other plane are believed to be missing, the same source added.
“The search for the rest of the crew is still ongoing,” he said.
The military announced that all the pilots were French citizens.
Ukrainian pilots are currently training in France, but their training also takes place on Alpha jet fighters at the Cazeau base in the southwest of the country.
The Meurthe and Moselle department said the accident occurred in the Colombey-les-Belles area.
It is not clear why this happened.
