(CNS): Anti-Corruption Commission investigators have arrested two men. Douglas Anthony Smith (48), of North Sound Estates, and Shaun Michael Abshire Scott (24), of George Town, have each been charged with three offences: conspiracy to defraud the government (in violation of the Anti-Corruption Act), obtaining property by deception (in violation of the Criminal Code), and participating in a money laundering arrangement (in violation of the Proceeds of Crime Act).
The arrest appears to be related to Two more ACC cases The case was uncovered this summer following a “complex and protracted investigation,” according to a release from the ACA.
Both will appear in court at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 27, 2024. No further information is available at this time
ACC said it was investigating.
