Tunisia Telecom participated in the third edition of the CSR POWER FORUM competition hosted by the Municipality of Hammamet on May 23-24, with the motto “Sustainable profitability, a new formula for corporate efficiency”.
At the end of this competition, Tunisia Telecom was once again among the winners, receiving the “Best Practice in Environmental Commitment” award, an honor that reflects its outstanding efforts in energy transition.
In fact, Tunisia Telecom has launched an ambitious energy transformation plan aimed at reducing its carbon footprint and improving energy efficiency. Its plan revolves around several basic axes, such as: self-production of photovoltaic energy, the use of free cooling and variable frequency air conditioning systems, and improving the energy efficiency of infrastructure.
It is noteworthy that the national operator Tunisia Telecom continues to support and develop its activities related to social responsibility, with the motto Commitment and Development.
Because the success of CSR lies not only in what a brand does, but also in the positive impact it has on the lives of others. It is important for individuals and their environment to actively participate in Tunisia Telecom’s social responsibility strategy to confirm its position as a responsible operator committed to sustainable development.
Therefore, in the long term, there is great potential to reduce or even eliminate energy consumption by renewing and developing air conditioning systems, which will enable Tunisia Telecom to control its carbon footprint.
It is worth noting that in 2022, Tunisia Telecom successfully experimented with the plan to build low-voltage grid-connected photovoltaic energy self-production sites. Given this success, the plan will continue in 2023/2024 with an installed capacity of 3.2 MWc, distributed in all regions of southern Tunisia. This plan will not only reduce the consumption of non-renewable energy by more than 5%, but also reduce the costs of Tunisia Telecom’s activities in the long term.
Finally, the main objective of this process (encapsulated in the corporate social responsibility) is to contribute to the national energy strategy adopted by the Tunisian government by 2035, by reducing dependence on fossil energy and encouraging renewable energy sources.
The most prominent message conveyed was Tunisia Telecom’s commitment and work to combat climate change and promote and encourage sustainable development.
