Tunisia Telecom and the National Institute of Statistics join forces to successfully complete the 2024 Population and Housing Census

Today, at the headquarters of the national telecommunications operator, in the presence of several senior executives from both institutions, including Mr. Al-Asaad Ben Dhiab, President and Director General of Tunisia Telecom, and Mr. Bouzid Al-Nusairi, Director-General of the National Institute of Statistics, two framework agreements were signed, under which a broad working partnership will be established between the two national institutions.

This partnership coincides with the launch of the 13th Population Census conducted by the National Institute of Statistics, an extremely important event in Tunisia’s history. In this context, Tunisia Telecom is committed to providing technical support to facilitate the work of the National Institute of Statistics and contribute to the success of this important national date and event. In addition, Tunisia Telecom will become the official sponsor of the 2024 Population and Housing Census.

As for the second agreement, it involves a more comprehensive and in-depth partnership, based on the agreement signed between the two regulatory ministries, the Ministry of Communications Technologies and the Ministry of Economy and Planning. In addition to specialized training courses, the agreement also includes technical support and technical assistance.

Mr. Al-Asaad Bin Dhiab considers the signing of this partnership an important stage in the framework of cooperation between the two institutions, adding: “We are honored to sign today this strategic agreement with the National Institute of Statistics to activate Tunisia Telecom, which will participate in the 2024 Population and Housing Census within the framework of its role as national operator, in order to implement the National Telecommunications Sector Strategy and keep pace with technological developments in the sector. The success of this groundbreaking national project of digitalization.”

Mr. Bouzid Nassiri, for his part, stressed the importance of the agreement, noting that the strategic partnership established by it will improve statistical activities in Tunisia and open up new horizons, especially in the field of digital transformation. He added that the 2024 census will be the last one to be conducted using the traditional direct meeting method, followed by the population registration that is expected to be adopted in the upcoming census.

This census is also characterized by the use of digital data storage at all levels in Tunisia for the first time.
