Traffic slowed to a crawl in Auckland’s CBD this afternoon, with some motorists forced to wait in car parks for nearly two hours due to traffic jams that prevented vehicles from leaving the building.
Matthew Lee told The Herald He had to wait in his car on level 17 of the Victoria Street car park for at least 90 minutes this afternoon.
“I started shopping in town at 12pm and reached my car around 2:30pm and decided to leave, then I realised the car park was full,” he said.
“I walked out of the parking lot, got in line, and then realized I hadn’t moved in over an hour.
“People might have been waiting for two hours. By the time I came out, they might have been waiting for two hours.”
