The meteorological department said there will be occasional showers in Western, Sabaragamuwa and North Western provinces as well as Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts.
Parts of Western Province and Sabaragamuwa Division and parts of Galle, Matara, Nuwara Eliya and Puttalam districts are likely to receive heavy rainfall of around 50 mm.
Reports said showers or thundershowers are likely to occur at several places in Uva, Ampara and Batikaloa districts in the evening or night.
Strong winds of about 40-50 kmph are expected at times over the western slopes of the central hills, northern, north-central and north-western provinces and Hambantota and Trincomalee districts.
Cloudy skies are expected in the North, North-Central, East and Central provinces.
The general public is advised to take precautions against localized strong winds, lightning and other disasters caused by thunderstorms.
