Former African Action Congress presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore has castigated President Bola Tinubu for purchasing a presidential jet despite his failure to address hunger issues facing citizens.

Recall that the Tinubu administration on Monday unveiled the new Airbus A330 aircraft purchased under his leadership.

Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, who released the photos, said the aircraft replaced the 19-year-old Boeing B737-700 (BBJ) purchased during the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Sowore made a series of posts through his official X account criticizing the current government for its profligacy amid the country’s ongoing difficulties and poor economic condition.

He added that the main focus of Nigeria’s leaders seemed to be satisfying their interests rather than effectively addressing the problems facing citizens.

“Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu said one year is not enough for Nigerians to enjoy a better country, but look what he bought for himself in one year: a yacht, a jet, a bulletproof Escalade, a mansion for the Vice President. #RevolutionNow,” Sowore said.

In another blog post, Sowore wrote: “Bola Tinubu finally launches $150 million presidential jet on his way to Paris. The only thing these greedy rulers in Nigeria are happy about is satisfying their own selfish desires; they don’t care about the people at all.

“A day of fun at the expense of suffering Nigerians, @officialABAT giant luxury presidential jet arrives in Nice, France.”
