In Kuala Lumpur, on June 25, 2024, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Bendito dos Santos Freitas, accompanied by the Ambassador of Timor-Leste to Malaysia, Lisuardo Gaspar, visited the Malaysian state oil and gas company Petronas. During the visit, as part of an official visit of government officials to the country, he attended a presentation on the evolution of oil and gas exploration on land (“onshore”) and offshore (“offshore”).
Petronas is a national agency established in 1974 with 50 years of extensive experience in offshore and onshore oil and gas production, and a strong and positive relationship with the world market. This success is partly due to the consistent political support of the Malaysian government.
Minister Bendito dos Santos Freitas stressed that Malaysia is willing to invite the Minister of Petroleum, Resources and Mines of Timor-Leste through Petronas to visit the country to share experiences in the field of the petroleum industry.
