Vice President Kamala Harris has chosen Minnesota Governor Tim Waltz as her running mate for the 2024 election.
Walz, a former high school teacher and military veteran, has been in politics for nearly two decades, having served in Congress since 2007. He has won support from rural conservative voters and pushed bills on police reform, abortion protections and education funding. Hailing from the Midwest, Walz could prove a useful surrogate to solidify support in his own blue state and in key battlegrounds such as Michigan and Wisconsin.
Harris and Waltz will appear together for the first time at a campaign rally in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They will face former President Donald Trump and Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance in the 2024 election.
