Yesterday, three men were sentenced to 12 days in prison for depriving a 37-year-old woman of her liberty and gang-raping her.
A post from the Aarhus police in Denmark on the 20th stated that the woman was held in an apartment in the city from 7 a.m. to 1:05 p.m. on Saturday, when the men allegedly raped and held her down.
Ekstra Bladet said a translator was present when a judge in Aarhus heard the detention request yesterday, translating from Danish into Tigrinya and vice versa. This is the language used in Eritrea, but the men are from there.
They all pleaded not guilty and appeared calm in court, the newspaper reported.
A police spokesman told the newspaper that all three had previously reported the incident to police, adding that they were still searching for two other people suspected of involvement in the violence.
