Quito (New Diary) – Three people died in a fire on a fishing boat at the dock in Guayaquil, southwestern Ecuador, the city’s fire department reported.
He noted in a statement that at 02:50 local time (07:50 GMT), the Integrated Safety Services Center (ECU 911) received an alert about the fire on board the vessel and when they arrived on the scene, they found smoke spreading from the machinery room.
Firefighters found 3,000 gallons of fuel on board the vessel, producing “significant amounts of smoke” and high temperatures, the letter said.
The fire department explained that after extinguishing the flames, firefighters found the bodies of three people without vital signs, while the fourth person “came out on his own” and received medical treatment.
More than fifty firefighters from various operations and fifteen units participated in the emergency rescue and extinguished the fire, but the extent of the fire remains unknown.
