Three teenagers Accused of stealing property In the Rose Bowl against Colorado, the team locker room University of California, Los Angeles Last October, Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office Decided to continue investigating the case.
The three teens, a 16-year-old from Beaumont, a 15-year-old from Banning and a 16-year-old from Banning, face five felony charges and one misdemeanor charge for allegedly stealing jewelry, headphones and cash. Some of the items have been returned to the Colorado players.
The Pasadena Police Department investigated, identified and arrested three juveniles, who were cited and released into the care of their parents or guardians. No one is in custody at this time, said Pasadena Police Department Lt. Monica Cuellar.
The District Attorney’s Office filed charges against the suspect late last month after the Los Angeles County Probation Office received the case from Pasadena police.
In November, Colorado coach Deion Sanders asked for leniency for the suspect.
“We’re going to make sure these kids atone for what happened, whether it’s community service or whatever, but they don’t lose the opportunity to turn their lives around,” Sanders said at the time. “They’re just kids. They made a stupid, stupid, idiotic mistake. I made the same mistake when I was 17, 18 years old. OK? You too.”
It is not clear if the suspects are football players, but according to a UCLA athletic department spokesperson, they were not attending an official NCAA recruiting event while watching the game. Police have not yet disclosed how they gained access to the locker room.
As part of enhanced security measures at this season’s Rose Bowl, there will be additional security patrols and the closure of two public access paths to the home and away locker rooms, a UCLA athletic department spokesperson said.
UCLA also changed its credential system to better restrict access to locker room areas.
