The engine that drives the lights at Kigali’s Pele Stadium is unable to turn them all on, making the stadium suitable for night matches.
On Thursday, August 22, the City of Kigali clarified the issue following a dispute over the match time for the second day of the league scheduled for Thursday, August 23, 2024, when Rayon Sports will host Amagayo Football Club at the Kigali Bailey Stadium.
According to the schedule, the match was scheduled to be played at 12:00 in the evening (18:00), only for the City of Kigali to write to inform the Rwandan Football Association FERWAFA that the match could not be played due to problems with the stadium lighting engine.
After the controversy caused by Rwandan fans, the city of Kigali indicated that the issue was not resolved but was seeking a lasting solution.

In a message published by the City of Kigali on its X website, he continued: “Today, our engines at Kigali Bailey Stadium were not able to turn on all the lights, so the stadium was suitable for the night. However, those who were going to play were able to bring suitable engines, so they were allowed to play at night.
The City of Kigali said the imported engines would arrive within the next three months.
The President of the Republic responded via the X website, the City of Kigali explained the problem with the engine and said these unfortunate things happened. “This should not have happened in the first place,” he said.
Due to the issue, the match between Rayon Sports and Amagaju FC was postponed to 9:00 (15:00), while the match between Gasogi United and Marines FC was postponed to 12:30 (12:30).

Rayon Sports announced that the game will be played at 6:00 p.m.
