Thirty-four parties sign “Puluwan Sri Lanka” agreement to support the president in elections

34 political parties and alliances signed the “Puluwan Sri Lanka” agreement to support President Ranil Wickremesinghe in the upcoming presidential election. SJB MPs Kumara Welgama and AHM Fowzie also attended the ceremony and expressed their support to ensure the victory of President Ranil Wickremesinghe in the presidential election.

The signing ceremony took place yesterday at the Water’s Edge Hotel in Bataramulla in the presence of President Ranil Wickremesinghe.

The agreement was signed by leaders of political parties and alliances amid the chanting of Seth Pirith by members of the Mahasangha. Other religious leaders blessed the ceremony by performing religious rituals. The agreement was signed by Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena, Nimal Siripala de Silva and Mahinda Amaraweera of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, and Ramesh Patirana and Prasanna Ranatunga of the Sri Lanka Peace Home, on behalf of the Sri Lankan Home.

The agreement was signed by the President’s Legal Advisers New Alliance Party’s MUM Ali Sabry and Susil Premajayantha, Eelam People’s Democratic Party’s Douglas Devananda and United People’s Party’s Hemapriya Kaviratne, United National Party’s Wajira Abeywardena, Tamil Makkal Vidudalai Pulikal’s Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan, Nationalist Congress Party’s ALMAtaullah, SJB’s Rajitha Senaratne and AHMFowzie

Besides, Asanka Navaratne of Sri Lanka Mahajana Pakshaya, Kumara Welgama of New Lanka Freedom Party, Aravinda Kumar of United People’s Party, S.Viyalendran representing Mutpokku Tamilar Aalaham, Udayana Kirindigoda of Jathika Nidahas Peramuna, Mohammad Mussammil Front of National Freedom Party and Vadivel Suresh of Ceylon National Plantation Workers Union signed the document.

Velu Kumar of the Democratic United Workers’ Congress, SMMM Musharraf of the All Ceylon Mecca Conference, Chatura Senaratne of the Democratic National Movement, Asad Sali of the National Unity Front, Champika Lowe of the Sri Lanka Progressive Front, M. Rajanathan Prabhaharan of the Eelam Revolutionary Students’ Organization, Shyamala Perera of the New Democratic Front and Sugath Hewapathirana of the Democratic Progressive Alliance also signed the agreement. Also signing the agreement were Anwar M. Mustafa of the Sri Lanka Democratic Party, Chinthaka Weerakoon of the Lak Gana Front, and Sirimasiri Hapuarachchi of the United People’s Front, Dr.AMJayaratne of the National People’s Front, WM Gamini Wijenayake of Nawajana Setha Peramuna, Nisham Mohammed of Mawbima Sanwardhana Peramuna and KBJayamini Jinadasa of the United Social Democratic Party.
