This is an observation from cultural actors in the city with two stations. Speaking about the main constraints facing local cultural actors, Macoumba Diaw, president of the Tiyes regional musicians and member of the board of Sodav, expressed dissatisfaction with mayors who are “often limited to organizing concerts on New Year’s Eve or on the eve of the music festival.”

Cultural actors expressed their frustration during a meeting with Habib Wittin, leader of the “Thies d’abord” movement, who expressed support for better consideration of their needs. The latter also expressed regret that “the ‘Katesyès’ festival is now abandoned” during an awareness-raising meeting jointly organized by the Senegalese Association of Musical Professions and the Association of Musicians of Thies. Habib Vitin urged local authorities to involve cultural players more in the organization of events in Thies, include them in committees and develop cultural agendas at the city and neighborhood scale.
