On the Angostura Bridge, which connects the states of Anzoátegui and Bolivar, Executive Vice President Delcy Rodríguez condemned the exposure of a terrorist plan that sought to destroy the aforementioned infrastructure through acts of sabotage.
Accompanied by Transportation Secretary Ramón Velásquez Araguayán; Governor Ángel Marcano; CVG Vice President Alexis Rodríguez Cabello and Guyana REDI Commander M/G Rafael Prieto, noted that these actions were part of a terrorist and criminal plan.
Rodriguez showed a series of graphs showing the cuts made by criminals from several Guayas, who seek to weaken the entire structure, “creating chaos and attacking the lives of innocent people, as well as the economic dynamics of a region that is experiencing a marked growth thanks to the policies promoted by President Nicolas Maduro.”
The first measure that the authorities will take to prevent the unfortunate incident will be to restrict the movement of heavy cargo through the Angostura Bridge, with such traffic only being able to enter the entity through the Orinoco Bridge in Puerto Ordaz.
Likewise, light vehicular traffic will be able to use the bridge at the maximum permissible speed of 40 kilometres per hour while repair work is carried out to give the structure the same strength.
Is it the same as before?
The Bolivarian state godmother said that the terrorists descended 50 meters to the bridge foundations in temperatures no less than 40 degrees Celsius and cut the sleepers of the bridge with scissors, leaving all the evidence at the scene, which is why she ruled out the fact that it was about the extraction of strategic materials.
The Executive Vice President mentioned that in light of these actions, FANB will continue to remain vigilant in finding those responsible for what she described as terrorist incidents.
The accident damaged 2,400 steel wires, affecting between 10 and 20 percent of the Guayas structure of the Angostura Bridge.
In this sense, Rodriguez said that “despite the continued calls for violence from the far right, on June 28, the Venezuelan people will take to the streets to vote for the hope that President Nicolás Maduro represents.”
Instant Response
The Minister of Transportation, Ramón Velásquez Araguayán, explained that a whole technical team consisting of bridge engineers and pathologists has arrived at the site to start repairing the damage caused by the terrorists.
“This is a directive from President Nicolás Maduro to install, in addition to the restoration of the affected areas, a whole system of real-time monitoring to protect the entire structure and its impact on the country,” commented the minister.
Likewise, he noted that the Orinoco Bridge in Puerto Ordaz will also be subject to the same control and monitoring measures and will be subject to exhaustive monitoring.
