They intervened against people trying to enter Isabela in succession – Metro Puerto Rico

This afternoon, Sunday, Isabela City Police and agents of the Aguadilla FURA Maritime Unit of the National Police of Puerto Rico (NPPR), in collaboration with troops from the Federal Border Patrol Agency, processed several unidentified migrants from the State boarding a yaw-type vessel that arrived in the Middles Beach area near Bajuras, Isabela.

Currently, only two people are being detained for due process of deportation.

During the interview Metro Puerto RicoRebecca González Ramos, special agent in charge of the Office of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), confirmed that there has been an increase in the number of illegal immigrants, especially from the Dominican Republic, who arrive illegally on the shores of Puerto Rico under the false illusion that there are jobs in construction projects.

“In the specific case of last week, they (migrants) paid up to $7,000 for the journey from the Dominican Republic to Puerto Rico. The HSI Director noted that this practice is common along the island’s coast and she commented that the agencies try to intervene with vessels on the high seas to prevent fatalities or accidents.

González Ramos explained that when the authorities intervene on a ship, they interview all the people on board to determine who is responsible for guiding the voyage and collecting the money. Likewise, in the country of origin, they try to identify the manufacturer of the yaw device.

“What we want to do is find out who is building these ships and who is profiting from this money.”hold.

The agent explained that “human trafficking” and “human trafficking” are not the same. The difference between the two is that “trafficking” moves a person from one place to another, while “trafficking” exploits a person through threats, fraud or coercion.
