The bodies of 10-year-old Madeling Elisa Arauz Rizo were found this Friday after she and her 14-year-old sister Maykeling Arauz Rizo drowned in the Boca del Corozal community in Jinotega Vivili on Thursday afternoon.
Madryn’s body was found in the waters of the Coco River near the Puerto Lindo Marina in the Mare Concito area of Waverili.
Family members, community members and rescue teams are still working to find the body of the girl, Maykeling Arauz Rizo.
Regarding the incident, it was learnt that the little girl was visiting her mother Mayra Rizo’s relative’s house and when they returned from their neighbour’s house, the phone was charging and the death occurred.
According to initial reports, the girl, Madeling Elisa, slipped and fell into a ravine in the area as they were returning home after a heavy downpour.
Seeing his sister in danger, Mecklin Arauz jumped into the water and both were swept away by the current and died.
