“They can cancel the MUD card, but the country is determined to change,” said Miguel Parra

Miguel Parra, the National Secretary of the Alliance and Progress, confirmed that the majority of Venezuelans are willing to vote en masse on July 28 and cast their votes for Edmundo González Urrutia instead of Nicolás Maduro.

In an interview with Globo TV’s Kikosis, Parra stressed that the Venezuelan people are committed to ending the crisis and social problems that have plagued them in recent years, and confirmed that the Maduro government has broken its promises.

“The problem is that they ignore the social problems of the people, the most fundamental of which is to change a government that is 25 years old and has provided works such as the Guarenas train, the subway, the bridge over Lake Maracaibo, electricity and thermal power plants. It has provided everything but has not invested it in education and health, at the expense of millions of people. “That’s why people want to get rid of Maduro.”

“This is not a campaign of ideas, proposals or suggestions on how to govern. People say give me whoever gives it to me, I got that vote. People have known the offer for the last 25 years; it is an inefficient model that they will not return to, an empty rhetoric that no one believes because here you have to go out to work to eat, speeches without content,” he chided.

In his words, Venezuelans go out to vote because they seek a better future through work and wages sufficient to meet their needs.

On the possibility of abolishing the MUD card, Parra ruled out the possibility that this would prevent political change.

“Edmundo’s speeches were exemplary, he asked the questions that should be asked, he didn’t talk about frying anyone, as Chavez did, nor about persecution. Here you can expect anything from the government, they can eliminate the MUD card, but the people are determined to change Maduro. If it’s not Edmundo, it will be someone else, but without a doubt, it will not be Maduro.

He estimated that Edmundo González Urrutia, the MUD candidate backed by the Progressive Alliance, was a serious, modest man who was careful with his words because he wanted peaceful change.

“Retirees, teachers, pensioners know that they will not be able to rebuild their salaries under Maduro, but that could happen if there is a change of government. “People have hope and will go out to vote.”
