A police officer in Manchester, England, has been suspended amid an investigation into his use of fake violence after a video showed him kicking a liar in the head at Manchester Airport on Tuesday.
The two men, Ahmad and Fasher, were arrested on Tuesday night on suspicion of assault at the airport, but the outcome of the case is unclear. The Daily Mail commented that the police officer in the video kicked the man after attacking a female police officer, causing her nose to be broken. A total of four people were arrested at the airport, including Ahmad and Fasher.
However, outrage has focused on the use of force by one officer, who kicked one of the men – of foreign descent but living in the UK – in the head as he lay prone on the ground and was unable to put his hands above his head.
Last night, a large protest took place outside Rochdale police station, where one of the men lives, with officers accused of racial profiling among other things. A further protest is planned outside the official residence of Manchester Mayor Andy Boreham tonight.
The Daily Mail reports that police are investigating the case and an independent group will review the sequence of events last night.
