KIEV – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says the war with Russia must end on Ukraine’s terms and he believes its peace proposal is viable.
According to the Ukrainian Pravda newspaper, Zelensky stressed in his video speech that Ukraine must obtain permission from its partners to deploy long-range weapons to target targets within Russia.
“(Ukraine should be able to attack) where the occupiers are, from where Russia is attacking Ukraine, from where missiles, Shahed drones and bombs are fired,” Zelensky said.
He noted that Ukraine needs this decision in order to be able to use all effective weapons.
“We must protect people’s lives and end the war on Ukraine’s terms,” he stressed.
Zelensky also thanked Ukraine’s partners for continuing to put pressure on Russia and the countries that are aiding its war through sanctions.
“The key principles of our peace proposal are absolutely applicable, since the majority of the world’s population puts pressure on Russia, does not support its military activities and truly wants to restore stability in international relations,” the Ukrainian president said.
