The fourth and final season of the show began streaming on Netflix on August 8, and fans noticed that during a scene in the fifth episode, a camera rig mounted on the back of a car could be seen in an exterior shot of the car.
“I’m watching The Umbrella Academy Season 4, I noticed they forgot to put a whole camera set in the back seat of the car when they filmed this shot,” one fan posted on X.
The mistake exacerbated fans’ disappointment with season four.
They questioned the “lazy” writing, arguing that it undermined some character development from previous seasons and plot twists that were wildly out of character for others.
“The writers of The Umbrella Academy cooked up a worse ending than Game of Thrones,” said one fan on X. Another added: “So horrible, wish I hadn’t watched it. They have completely slandered characters I’ve loved for years. Disgusting and disappointing.”
In a post about the editing error, fans pointed out that interest in the season seemed minimal.
One fan wrote: “This is nothing f**king evidence of how little we’ve paid attention to this season, then what is?”
The sci-fi drama, which premiered in 2019, has a 61% rating on the review aggregation site Rotten Tomatoes, but only an 18% audience score.

Blackman, who co-created the show with Jeremy Slater, has been accused of creating a misogynistic environment. Rolling Stone report.
At least a dozen staff members claim that Blackman hired a team of female writers, one of whom became pregnant and went on maternity leave a month into her 20-week stint. The employee returned a month before her contract was due to expire, and while the rest of the team had their contracts extended by 10 weeks to finish the season, the female writers’ contracts were not extended.
“He told me he fired them because one of the writers was pregnant and he didn’t tell him,” one employee claimed. Another claimed Blackman felt “cheated” because he didn’t know the writer was pregnant when he hired her.
The allegations against Blackman also allege that he made “sexist, homophobic and transphobic” comments during the filming of the show. The complaint, from 2023, states that Blackman wrote to an unnamed recipient: “Elliot (Page) wants to come out as trans on the show. As Ivan. Oh my god. Kill me now.”
Blackman has denied all allegations, and his representative said he is concerned about Paige’s transgender storyline Because the script is complete.
