The Speaker of the House of Representatives refutes Minister Romero and asks him to take responsibility when sending the law

Government Minister Carlos Romero assured that House Speaker Rebeca Delgado had made a mistake when she said that the asset forfeiture law project had undergone 60% changes; the aforementioned people asked the authorities to take more responsibility when sending regulations without considering their constitutionality.

“It cannot be said that the norm has been modified by more than 60% because the norm that has been modified by that percentage is no longer an initiative of the executive branch but becomes an idea of ​​the legislature (…) I believe it has (her words) not been good enough for the size of the Speaker of the House,” said the minister.

According to the administration, the speaker of the lower house did not weigh her remarks because it was impossible for a law sent from the Government Palace to undergo so many changes, a fact reiterated by Delgado, with the text having been modified by more than 60%.

“This is the opinion of the Constitutional Council, everything here has been amended, so let’s act with more responsibility to the country, more responsibility to the people (…) There was a misunderstanding and misinformation about the norms of the beginning. From the standards of a government minister,” Delgado said.

These differences were described as a “lack of coordination” by Movement for Socialism (MAS) deputy Galo Bonifaz, who pledged to adopt a single position in future meetings in order not to create friction within the ruling party.

Luis Felipe Dorado, a member of the National Convergence (CN) party, attributed the deadlocks to a lack of seriousness in the legislative work, ensuring that they even lied to President Evo Morales, stating that the project would not affect any sector.

In turn, Donato Callisaya, deputy of the MAS, who represents the drivers, explained that a meeting will be held next Tuesday at three o’clock in the afternoon with the sectors considered affected by the initiative, which will take place on December 7. Wednesday.

It is important to point out that Minister Romero confirmed that at least four modifications had been made to the project, while in the last hours meetings had taken place between President Evo Morales, Vice President Álvaro García Linera, Delgado himself and the legislators representing the transporters regarding the project.
