In response, UEFA’s Disciplinary Committee imposed a one-match ban on both players for violating fundamental rules of ethical conduct and improperly using a sporting event for non-sporting expression.
However, the RFEF has not backed down and has launched an appeals process in the hope of having the punishment reduced to a mere censure or financial penalty.
