An information search from the University of Colombo shows that about 2 million votes have been cast so far, which is extremely critical in determining the outcome of this year’s presidential election.
Research by Professor Ajanta Hapuarachchi, former head of the Department of Journalism at the University of Colombo, shows that most people have decided on the candidates to vote for, but two million voters are still undecided.
The professor added that no candidate would be able to pass 50% of the votes this time and the president would be chosen based on the results of the decisive 200,000 votes.
