Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew urged the 223 police officers who graduated yesterday to always observe discipline at work.
He told new officers that their police careers would be shortened if they deliberately violated their oath of service.
“We are accountable to the law, and only the law.”
The Acting Commissioner reiterated the importance of discipline in times of adversity.
“Stand firm and defend the truth and the law.”
Mr Chew also mentioned that they had been labelled corrupt, unprofessional, unethical and dishonest, a perception created by the actions of a few in the organisation, and reiterated their collective commitment to clean up the police force in accordance with strict legal guidelines.
He added that such labels were frustrating, but the actions of a few officers did not do justice to the organization as a whole.
Mr Zhou congratulated all members of the 67th batch, which also included officers from Tuvalu.
