Taimak Saunders homicide victim number 69 at Sumner Road and Soldier Road on Friday morning.

NASSAU | The Bahamas media is tracking the 70th homicide of the year, which took place in the backyard of the East Street South police station.

Police found a man shot to death outside the station.

The officers at the East Street South Police Station deserve credit for their actions. When they heard gunshots coming from behind the station, they ran out and saw a cube car speeding away.

Police pursued the suspects who were driving a private car. The three occupants of the Cube (suspects) crashed into a car on Bamboo Boulevard and fled on foot. Police pursued on Thatch Palm Street and captured two of the three suspects. One was shot and taken to the hospital. The other escaped. A high-powered weapon and a handgun were recovered. Great work by the police! Now…the question is will the judge grant them bail later this week?

Jamie Tynes #66

The incident comes after a series of murders on Friday. On Thursday night, police witnessed a double murder in Penford Close, where two men were stopped by a white TIDA vehicle at around 10pm, and then shots were fired at them by a dark-colored vehicle that fled the scene. The two men tried to escape but fell and died. Meanwhile, police found a large amount of drugs in that car. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene. BP has confirmed that one of the victims was Jamie Tynes in his 40s son of a former member of the house of representatives Maurice Tynes.

Two hours later, police responded to another incident at Crooked Island and Palmetto Ave. Street where a 24-year-old man was shot and killed. A 41-year-old woman was shot and wounded. She was taken to the hospital. A male victim was shot and killed by a passenger in a vehicle. He died at the scene.

The last incident occurred at about 4:30 a.m., when a male passenger in a car at the intersection of Sumner Street and Soldier Road was shot multiple times. Police found the sole male driver in the car dead with multiple gunshot wounds around his body. We understand the victim is Tymak Sanders.
