Libreville, Thursday, July 4, 2024 (Gabon News) – This dissatisfaction was expressed by Professor Hervé Ndoume Essingone on Wednesday in Libreville during a visit to the various projects initiated by the Ministry of Higher Education.

The Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Technological Innovation carried out an owner’s visit on July 3 to various projects launched a few days ago at the Omar Bongo University (UOB), the National Center for Scientific and Technological Research (CENAREST), the Ecole Normale Supérieure (ENS) and the Ecole Normale Supérieure (ENSET). The aim was to check the progress of the work and ensure compliance with quality standards and planned deadlines.

The least we can say is that the minister, who was surrounded by the presidents and directors of the aforementioned higher education institutions, expressed mixed feelings as there are only a few weeks left until the university year scheduled for the second week of September 2024. In addition, Professor Hervé Ndoume Essingone asked site managers to speed up their work in order to meet the deadline.

At UOB, the large educational building that is gradually rising from the ground will include eight classrooms for 100 students, a library, a multi-purpose room and an archive room. At ENS, CENAREST, the National Institute of Management Sciences (INSG), he also expressed his dissatisfaction.

“Some buildings will achieve the September target. On the other hand, it must be recognized that, unfortunately, at the construction sites of the Ecole Normale Supérieure and the National Institute of Management Sciences, we have received unfavorable signals from the Gabonese SMEs dedicated to the task. The building has encountered technical difficulties in starting up,” said Professor Ndoume Essingone, especially since these sites have already received 50% of financing and the first official notification letters have been sent to the winning companies.

Remember, these infrastructures are built to improve learning conditions and support the educational mission of the university.
