The main suspect went to the gendarmerie

A man suspected of having Shooting of two members of Hells Angels-affiliated motorcycle club AFP learned on Monday from a source close to the investigation and prosecutors that the North surrendered itself overnight between Saturday and Sunday and that the two police officers were in custody.

The source said the man reported to the research unit of the Lille gendarmerie, which is in charge of the investigation, while another man who played a “more subdued role” in the incident was arrested late on Sunday.

Two police officers are in custody

Douai prosecutor Frederic Fortois said on Monday afternoon that two cases in police custody were ongoing, but did not provide further details. He added: “A judicial investigation into allegations of murder by organised gangs and criminal associations may be opened this week.”

Investigators are leaning toward internal conflict within the “Minority Voters” motorcycle group affiliated with the Hells Angels, according to a source with knowledge of the probe.

The double murder took place on the night of Saturday to Sunday in a hangar in Aubigny-au-Bac (north), between Cambrai and Douai. Frédéric Fourtoy said on Sunday that the two victims were two men aged 30 and 38 who “belonged to or were closely associated with motorcycle clubs”.

Arrested at the club in 2015

According to sources, both victims were known to have common law crimes.

In June 2015, the police arrested 15 members of the “Minority Electorate” from Lille (50 km from Aubigny-au-Bac) during a large-scale operation aimed at disbanding the club. This led to the seizure of drugs, weapons and stolen vehicles in Lille, Douai, Lens and Calais, with the support of 230 soldiers.

A source with knowledge of the investigation assured at the time that “many criminal acts with neo-Nazi ideology” were committed by “a small number of voters.”
