New Zealand reported 1,693 new cases of Covid-19 in the week to Sunday, with 28 more people dying from the virus.

Of the new cases, 1,058 were reinfections.

Of those, 102 were hospitalized, but data on the number of patients in intensive care was not yet available.

The highest number of new cases was in Canterbury, followed by the Waitemata.

The number of cases is 27 more than last week, when Te Whatu Ora 1,666 new cases reported Another 26 people have died from the virus.
