Taking advantage of the inauguration ceremony of the park in the center of the capital, the King and Queen of Bhutan brought their three children to play and visit the new project.

King Jigme Khesar Namgyel and members of the royal family attended the inauguration of Changyu Park in the capital Thimphu over the weekend.

King Jinmei’s father, former King Druk Gyalpo IV (seated in the centre), also attended the event with his children and grandchildren.

Former King Drub Gyalpo IV, King Jigme and two princes presided over the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The 18-month Changyu Park project aims to improve urban green space and promote sustainable development in the capital.

As part of the day-long ceremony, participants were invited to visit many sites, and the King of Bhutan also took his wife and children to explore the beautiful scenery.

The King of Bhutan came to visit, carrying his eldest son, Crown Prince Jigme Namgyel, on his shoulders.

Meanwhile, Queen Jetsun Pema is primarily caring for her youngest daughter, Princess Sonam.

Princess Sonam (born September 2023) can now stand and point to new things.

While the family went sightseeing, Prince Jigme Ugyen Wangchuck “hid” in a corner eating snacks.

The 2.8-hectare Changyul Park stretches along the Wangchhu River and was built through a collaboration between multiple Bhutanese ministries. The project attracted a large number of architects, urban planners and more than 130 full-time volunteers who worked for 130 days.

The project has many lush green corners and friendly landscaping decorations, blending in with nature.

The park’s gardens attracted members of the royal family to stroll through them.
