The government has started repairing the road that connects the Military Route to Comacalán in San Miguel department. The project is part of efforts to improve road infrastructure in the eastern part of the country.
The Secretary of Public Works, Romeo Rodriguez, and the Director of the Road Protection Fund (FOVIAL), Alex Beltran, personally supervised the work being done. The interventions on the road include laying a new layer of asphalt on a 4.25-kilometer section and the use of recycling technology of the existing pavement.
Beltran stressed the importance of the works, noting that the road has exceeded its service life, stressing that the asphalt mix used has been modified to withstand the high temperatures in the eastern region.
According to the official, the rehabilitation project will significantly improve access and connectivity for residents of Komakalan and Yuquajjin, benefiting about 9,998 people and 1,321 drivers who regularly use the road.
The implementation of the project will be carried out in two phases to minimize the impact on vehicular traffic. “In the first phase, we are intervening on more than half of the 9 km route. Subsequently, we will continue the construction work in phases to avoid major complications in traffic,” explained Rodriguez.
The head of public works explained that the project is vital to the region as it will provide better accessibility and benefit the thousands of people who rely on the route for their daily activities.
