The government did not invite the president to the meeting with football players

According to “Otsni” representative Gia Volsky, the government did not invite President Salome Zurabishvili to the meeting with the national team players.

“We, the organizers, do not believe that Salome Zurabishvili is a figure who fulfills the constitutional obligations of a unifier of Georgia, on the contrary, all her actions seek to somehow divide and oppose, including young people, and bring this radicalism into society in any case, even during the swearing-in, which is contrary to our state interests, so the government decided not to invite Salome Zurabishvili to the event,” Volsky told reporters.

Today at 22:00, a reception for Georgian football players returning from the European Cup will be held on Freedom Square, and the Presidential Palace announced that Zurabishvili will take part in public celebrations and will present awards to members of the national football team – staff and representatives of the National Football Association.

It is not yet clear where the awards ceremony will take place and the government has not yet commented.
