Dr. Dmitry Kulikov, director of the Department of Biotechnology and Bioorganic Synthesis at the Russian University of Biotechnology, revealed that dried fruits are most beneficial to health, but excessive consumption is dangerous.

“The results of numerous studies show that raisins, figs and prunes are the most beneficial for the body, since dried fruits without added sugar are a great source of nutrients, and prunes and dried apricots are also considered a source of dietary fiber,” Kulikov said. “They are very beneficial products for the normal functioning of the intestines, because in addition to fiber, these products contain sorbitol, which has a laxative effect, and all of this contributes to the prevention of intestinal cancer.”

According to him: Dried fruits contain a high proportion of dietary fiber and bioactive compounds, such as polyphenols, which are antioxidants that can have a positive impact on blood vessels, blood pressure levels and blood sugar levels, and can also reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases and type 2 diabetes.

He said that the daily intake of dried fruits should not exceed 250-300 grams, as excessive consumption can cause bloating, flatulence and diarrhea, according to Russia Today.
