It was an important game today in the fourth division in Croke as the Tindastall side took on the Kopavogspilt side of Immie in a damp, cold and foggy atmosphere. The two teams have alternated at the top of the league table over the past few weeks and it was clear that a win today would be a big step for the home side on their way to securing a place in the third division this year. As it happens, after a 3-1 win, the Stora side added the three points to their team and Tindastall’s excellent run in the league continued.
In fact, the visitors had the first shot after the 18th minute of the match, with Hákon Freyr Jónsson scoring. The hosts responded quickly, but the team’s coach Dominic Furness responded in the 24th minute. The half was tied, and despite the advantage, the presidium had to wait until the 79th minute to score an important goal. Then, captain Sverrir Hrafn turned Benna Vilbergs’ pass back into the goal. Then, David Bjelobrk put the cocktail berry on the victory cake with a goal in the 5th minute of stoppage time.
Currently, the Presidents are at the top of the league with 34 points, Amir with 29 points and Aalborg in third with 28 points, but they have a game in the Presidents and it is really an internal game, so one or both teams will drop points there. The Presidents have three games left in the league, but the next one is an away game, which has not happened since July 4th against bottom team RB.
Excited about the next game
Fekir contacted chairman and captain Sverri Hrafn Friðriksson to ask if the result was fair. “Yes, I think it was a fair result. We controlled the game from start to finish and were by far the better side. They had some counterattacks but I think we handled them well.”
With entry into League Three just around the corner, how are the last few games of the league going for you? “The final was very good for me, we are in very good form and the goal is to keep it up. The next game is RB next Saturday and it will be a worthwhile task.”
Is your goal today one of the most important goals in your career? “Yeah, I don’t think it’s the least important goal of my career, it was a really good moment for the team and it’s nice to help the team attack from time to time. A dream ball from Benna Wilberg, I just had to put it in the goal. But overall we’re really happy with the three points today and excited for the next game,” said Sverrer Graven.
