NASSAU, BAHAMAS – British cinema icon James Bond has filmed no fewer than 007 scenes in The Bahamas, and next month on June 14, The Bond Experience will be here to unveil the much-anticipated new book by Simon Firth, Filming James Bond in the Bahamas. The Bond Experience will include a series of excursions through Nassau and Paradise Island, highlighting James Bond’s favorite filming locations in The Bahamas. The experience will culminate in a book launch at Atlantis Paradise Island Resort on June 16, where the first copy of the new book will be presented to the Honourable I. Chester Cooper, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Investment and Aviation.
“Like thousands of Bond fans around the world, I am deeply honored to receive this book of the iconic secret agent whose blockbuster film locations are so instantly associated with The Bahamas,” said Deputy Prime Minister and Bahamas Minister of Culture and Tourism I. Chester Cooper. “The book will showcase the tranquility and natural beauty of our islands, where the first Bond film, Thunderball, was filmed, which undoubtedly explains why Bond, not to mention long-time Bahamian resident Sean Connery himself, loved The Bahamas,” he continued. “We welcome Bond fans from around the world to The Bahamas for The Bond Experience in June. For visitors near and far, we invite you to come and experience for yourself the stunning beauty of our islands, which have served as the backdrop for so many Bond films.”
The Ministry of Tourism, Investment and Aviation will sponsor the event in partnership with Atlantis Paradise Island Resort and is being hosted by Arcadia Creative Solutions. The three-day event will be an immersive experience for fans, with the opportunity to relive the Thunderball reunion with appearances from the 1965 film including Italian actress Luciana Paluzzi, Jamaican actress Martine Beswicke, American actress Diane Hartford and legendary Bahamian musician King Errisson, who performed in the film’s nightclub scene. The event will include visits to the Thunderball Breakwater, Royal Bahamas Defense Force Base, The Caves, Bay Street, Rock Point and Love Beach on Paradise Island.
Clarence Rolle, Director of the MOTIA Film Commission, expressed his delight that the event was held in the Bahamas, “Fans around the world were excited to celebrate the James Bond franchise with us in the Bahamas. The Bahamas is a key filming location for the James Bond films, so it means a lot to honor the Bahamas. I think it opens the door for many more films to be filmed in the Bahamas.”
Seven James Bond films have been filmed in the Bahamas: Thunderball, Never Say Goodbye, Casino Royale, You Only Live Twice (underwater scenes), The Spy Who Loved Me, Foremost, and The World Is Not Enough. For more information, visit https://www.onthetracksof007.com.
