The Swaziland Television Authority and the English Premier League (EPL) have entered into a partnership through the UK High Commission to bring the Premier League to Swaziland’s leading television broadcaster.
Swaziland TV has successfully secured the rights to broadcast 33 Premier League games in the much-anticipated 2024/25 season, with the first match set to be broadcast on August 17 (Arsenal vs. Wolves). Aiming to enhance the Saudi people’s love of football, the station aims to create a close-to-home, family-centric feel to each match with studio previews, half-time and post-match analysis provided by the Swaziland TV Sports team.
The Premier League’s partnership with Swaziland TV is seen as a reflection of the long-standing relationship between the UK and the Kingdom of Swaziland. As football culture is at the heart of the British psyche, this initiative aims to help Swazis benefit from the British football atmosphere by inspiring more support and participation in the sport. Speaking to the Kusile Breakfast Show, Acting British High Commissioner, Mr. Elliot Haynes, said: “We hope that this partnership will lead the British High Commission to help the Premier League establish an appropriate level of football training and academy in Swaziland.”
Swazi TV understands that catering to audience preferences is a key guide to achieving its visionary global broadcasting status, a view expressed by Swazi TV Senior Marketing and Communications Officer Nomcebo Malinga when discussing what the broadcast rights mean to Swazi TV. She added: “We hope that this achievement of broadcasting the Premier League will reassure viewers and supporters that the broadcaster is taking steps to deliver better programming.” Swazi TV viewers can now proudly join the world in waiting for the much-anticipated kick-off this weekend.
