The G20 logo combines saffron, white, green and blue, bringing together elements that reflect India’s rich culture, commitment to nature and interconnectedness with the world.
The logo features a globe and the lotus, India’s national flower. This juxtaposition symbolizes growth amid challenges, reflecting India’s resilience and determination. The presence of the globe symbolizes India’s love for the planet, highlighting its commitment to protecting the environment and living in harmony with nature. Below the G20 logo, the word “Bharat” is elegantly written in Sanskrit, representing India’s cultural heritage.
The theme of India’s G20 presidency is “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”, which means “One Planet · One Family · One Future”, derived from the ancient Sanskrit Upanishads. The theme emphasizes the inherent value of all life forms – humans, animals, plants and micro-organisms – and highlights their interconnectedness on Earth and in the wider universe.
The theme also focuses on “LiFE” (Lifestyles for Environmental Protection), which advocates sustainable and responsible environmental choices at the individual and national levels. These choices are seen as key to driving the global transition to a cleaner, greener and bluer future.
The G20 logo and theme together convey the message of India’s G20 Presidency, which is to pursue fair and equitable global growth in today’s turbulent times. India’s G20 Presidency also coincides with the start of ‘Amritkaal’, a 25-year initiative that kicks off on August 15, 2022, to mark the 75th anniversary of India’s independence.
