Telegram CEO Pavel Dúrov has been accused of multiple violations related to the communications project.

He was arrested on arrival in France on Sunday, but was travelling from Baku to Azerbaijan.

The arrest warrant was issued as part of an investigation into alleged violations at Telegram, including user communications related to drug trafficking, cyberbullying, organized crime and forums discussing terrorism.

Durov was accused, among other things, of not taking part in the criminal exploitation of the communications program.

The French court issued the indictment today. Durov is free to travel as long as he pays bail of €5 million (ISK 763 million). In addition, he must go to the police twice a week and cannot leave France until the case is decided.
