Teacher attacked after being mistaken for thief, dies in hospital – Correio da Kianda

In the case that went viral on social media, a 37-year-old teacher was tied up and brutally beaten after he was mistaken for a criminal when he accidentally broke into a house in the Machiqueira neighborhood.

The incident took place in Lubango city and the teacher, who left behind a widow and three minor children, died at the Lubango General Hospital on Monday, Friday.

Superintendent Pedro Casoma Mendes, head of Huila’s criminal investigation unit, said investigations revealed that the citizen went to his residence at dawn drunkenly but presumably made a mistake and entered someone else’s house by mistake. He was considered an intruder and was then tied up and assaulted with a blunt instrument.

Police Chief Pedro Casoma Mendes said the victim was also brought to the 13th Police Station by two suspects on Saturday morning, but due to their condition, police detained them while the teacher was taken to the hospital.

Upon learning of the teacher’s death, police issued arrest warrants for the three citizens suspected of carrying out the initial attack.
