Over the past few hours, heavy rains have hit the Makkabana district in western Taiz governorate, causing extensive damage to property and infrastructure in the area.

Local sources said the torrents that swept through the villages of Shamir and Merab collapsed some houses and mosques, destroyed farmland, cars and wells, and cut off main and secondary roads, isolating many areas.

The source added that local residents called for urgent assistance to provide drinking water and provide relief to those affected, especially in the villages of Al-Ghubari, Al-Kadamah and Wadi Al-Nashima, where heavy rains flooded wells, the only source of drinking water.

It is worth noting that the United Nations recently warned that Yemen has been hit by heavy rains and floods this year, which have caused dozens of deaths and thousands of injuries.
