French-Moroccan actor Said Taghmaoui recently said that he was deceived by an association that helps orphans in the city of Essaouira. The association responded that this was not the case and that it reserved the right to initiate legal proceedings against the Moroccan star.

The Essaouira Darna Association clarified in a press release that the information revealed by Taghmaoui is baseless and without any evidence, adding that the accusations damage its image and credibility. The association explained that the project that Taghmaoui was talking about is currently undergoing technical studies and that only 50% of the forecast budget has been raised.

The association said that Saïd Taghmaoui raised funds for the association through the sale of T-shirts and glasses and subscriptions on a special page named after him on Instagram (about 20 euros per subscription), but specified that the actor has not yet transferred any amount to the association’s account.

The association also condemned the impression given by Said Taghmaoui on social networks that he spent all his wealth on the association’s children, stressing that the Moroccan star had never donated a single dirham to him. The association further assured new, old and potential donors that they could continue to trust it.
