Damascus (for you) — The U.S. State Department condemns the U.S. statement making false accusations against the Syrian government regarding the arrest of U.S. citizen Austin Tice.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement today that “the US government, represented by the White House and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, issued misleading statements yesterday. These statements included false allegations that the Syrian government arrested American citizen Austin Tice, a former US Army officer who was working as a journalist and disappeared after entering Syrian territory.”

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates in a statement stressed that the US accusations against Tice or other Americans are groundless, a deliberate distortion of the facts, and a continuation of the US government’s practice of accusing Syria, adding: “The US government is violating Syria’s territorial sovereignty.” He pointed out that he continued to take aggressive actions against Syria by supporting separatist militias and terrorist organizations, plundering Syria’s wealth, and imposing mandatory unilateral sanctions, bringing suffering to the Syrian people.
