MANZINI – King Mswati III expressed concern over a girl who tried to meet him during his visit to the Swaziland Oil Mills (EOM) on Wednesday.

The news was revealed by Deputy Prime Minister Tuli Dladla, who was looking after the girl after the incident. Dladla said the King ordered her to be taken to the Esibanyeni Hotel to have dinner with him and his guests after he discovered that Gabisile Mavuso was trying to meet him. The Deputy Prime Minister said that while she was on her way to the Esibanyeni Hotel, she received a call from the King asking if they had succeeded in bringing Mavuso to the dinner. After dinner, she received another call from the King, asking about Mavuso’s intentions and how he could help her.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Prime Minister said she had sent a team of police officers to conduct a background check on the girl and to her residence. Dladla elaborated on the girl’s background as she dropped out of school in Class 4 and lived with her mother in Tingulubeni, Matsapha as they had no suitable accommodation. The Deputy Prime Minister explained that the girl decided to visit the oil mill after learning about the King’s arrival, hoping to meet the King and share her situation. “They need a decent home because their current makeshift shelter is in poor condition,” the deputy prime minister said. After dinner, Dela Dela said they provided groceries for the girl and her mother.

Late on Wednesday, the deputy prime minister said she had received a call from the king asking for a detailed report on the girl to show the king’s concerns. The next morning, Dladla said a team of police officers was sent to an undisclosed location to take Mavuso away, following the king’s instructions.In addition, the Deputy Prime Minister said she plans to visit Tinglubeni to assess the area and engage with residents to explore ways in which her office can provide assistance. She is expected to visit the location soon, possibly next week, as part of their commitment to the “Nkwe” mission.
