NASSAU, BAHAMAS – “Goombay is coming!” Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Investment and Aviation Chester Cooper announced at a press conference at Pompeii Square on Monday. The Goombay Summer Festival will take place throughout the Bahamas, he said, “celebrating everything about ourselves and the Bahamas” with no island left behind – the full itinerary is available on Bahamas.com and Tourism Today. The New Providence Festival dates are Friday, July 26, Friday, August 9 and Friday, August 16 – food, entertainment, dancing, musicians; shoppers will enjoy Bahamian arts and crafts; and there will be a kids’ corner. Admission is free and runs from 6pm to midnight. A family event, the festival will stretch over two city blocks – from Charlotte Street to East Street east, near “sun, sand and souvenirs” – and each festival night will end with a Junkanoo revelry.
