Although international efforts to end Sudan’s civil war continue, they have yet to succeed.
Sudan’s military junta, which did not send representatives to the talks in Switzerland, announced it had agreed to send representatives for talks with Egyptian and American leaders in Cairo.
Dr Samuel Tefera, assistant professor at the Centre for African and Asian Studies at Addis Ababa University, said one of the reasons for the failure of the negotiations was the alienation of the interests of foreign powers to the side of the warring parties.
Dr. Samuel Tefera said that the Horn of Africa, where Sudan is located, is undergoing the test of protracted war, armed struggle and terrorism.
