The School of Social Sciences at the University of the West Indies launches the “Inspiration Wall” at the student orientation session

A picture is worth a thousand words: Dr. Acolla Lewis-Cameron, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, welcomed attendees at the unveiling of the Inspiration Wall.

St. Augustine – August 30, 2024: UWI students show solidarity and support in touching display University of the West Indies Faculty of Social Sciences (FSS) Created together Inspiration Wallannounced on Wednesday 21English Stone during student orientation in August 2024. Born out of a genuine desire among students to inspire and encourage their peers, the project stands proudly near the College’s rock garden, a symbol of enduring community spirit.

The initiative, co-sponsored by the Student Union, invites current and past students to share their personal messages and inspirational quotes. As a fitting symbol of the passing of the torch, these heartfelt words are meant to inspire and guide the new batch of students on their journey to higher education. Each message is inspired by the experiences and challenges of those who came before, providing hope and comfort, ensuring that students do not feel alone in their academic journey, but rather feel supported. This ‘Inspirational Wall’ will also serve as a booster for many future success stories, becoming the perfect backdrop for creating memories, with many students taking photos, inspiring them into the future.

Support a cause: The unveiling ceremony was attended by Ms. Crystel Ann Agard, a representative of the Student Union, Dr. Henry Bailey, Senior Lecturer and Associate Dean of Distance Education and Extension in the Department of Economics, and Dr. Acolla Lewis-Cameron, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences.
